Mega Green Tea Extract - Health Benefits, Diet, Light Caffeine Decaffeinated - Dose - 100 Vegetarian Capsules
As recommended as a part of Dr. Nicholas Perricone's Weight-loss Diet

The active constituents in green tea are polyphenols, with an antioxidant called epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) being the most powerful.  The antioxidant activity of EGCG is about 25-100 times more potent than vitamins C and E.  One cup of green tea may provide 10-40 mg of polyphenols and has antioxidant effects that are greater than a serving of broccoli, spinach, carrots, or strawberries.

The botanical extract in Mega Green Tea Extract has been concentrated and dual standardized to ensure the highest quality, consistency and biological activity.  This advanced extract contains 98% total polyphenols (710.5 mg per capsule) and 45% Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) (326.25 mg per capsule).

Green Tea has become one of the better documented nutrients for health.  These capsules are lightly caffeinated to reflect research findings of a synergistic protective effect when green tea polyphenols are combined with small amounts of caffeine.  For those who cannot tolerate caffeine, we also offer decaffeinated green tea extract for the same low price.

This enables you to obtain more green tea polyphenols at the same low price.  Both of these new green tea extracts are standardized to provide more of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG).  Published research shows that EGCG is the most potent polyphenol found in green tea.  Each capsule equals four to ten cups of green tea in polyphenol content.

Green tea contains catechins, a class of flavonoids.  These substances have been shown to provide a number of health-promoting benefits:

  • Catechins are antioxidants with the ability to scavenge reactive oxygen species such as superoxide and the hydroxyl and peroxyl free radicals,
  • Catechins have fluid stabilizing properties,
  • Catechins can boost the effectiveness of enzymatic phase II detoxification,
  • Catechins appear to help maintain healthy cell colonies.

The botanical extract in Mega Green Tea has been concentrated and standardized to ensure the highest quality, consistency, and biological activity.

Green Tea For You
Green tea, the ceremonial drink from the Orient that has found a heart-warming spot in Western homes for its soothing and enjoyable properties, is much more than that.  A cup of tea, as well as the extracts, provide concentrated forms of green tea's numerous health benefits.  Smooth tasting organic Japanese green tea is considered a gourmet treat by many tea drinkers.  Further, Japanese green tea can provide a satiating effect that enables people to reduce their calorie intake.

The active constituents in green tea are the catechin polyphenols.  Green tea catechins are potent antioxidants that provide health benefits beyond their ability to neutralize free radicals.  Some studies show that the polyphenols most prevalent in green tea (the catechins) are far more potent in suppressing free radicals than vitamins C or E.  In addition, green tea promotes the growth of friendly bifidobacteria in the intestine.  The Japanese drink green tea has been known to suppress foul breath caused by certain foods.  The deodorizing effect of green tea leaves has been known for centuries, and tea leaves traditionally have been used as deodorants.  A study demonstrated the deodorizing action of green tea polyphenols in a test against methyl mercaptan, the compound most closely associated with halitosis.  Green tea also has been shown to suppress bad smells produced by trimethylamine and ammonia.

For many people, sugar is the primary culprit in the accumulation of body fat.  One animal study showed a significant reduction in body fat in response to green tea-catechin supplementation.

L-theanine is a compound extracted from green tea, however, is not included in Mega Green Tea.  This product contains all other extracts mentioned above.
